Sam Jones, Personal Stylist at John Lewis & Partners Cheltenham gives his top tips for men's racing style, to ensure you’re dressed like a winner for the upcoming Cheltenham Festival - even if your horse comes in last!
1. Keep it simple
Layering is a really important way to make an outfit stand out, but use similar tones and fabrics to make it all work and try not to weigh yourself down with too much for too long.
2. Accessories are everything
Hats, ties, watches etc. are perfect for elevating a look. Lightweight overcoats are going to be a great investment whether indoors or outside.
3. Look towards sustainability
A good suit should never be worn just once. Mix and match with different styles and items over the week to make your investment last but look its best in different ways.
4. Try new colours
Instead of the traditional tweed jacket being the stand-out item, play with colours like teal and gold in your tie embellishments.
5. Best footwear forward
Brogues will always be king of race week fashion but whatever shoes you decide on, keep in mind how they feel, how they wear and how they last as much as how they look.
