Cheltenham is the most complete Regency Town in the UK, and is best known for foodie finds, serious shopping, an outstanding events and festival programme, and lots of things to do. Cheltenham effortlessly combines cosmopolitan cool with the realities of small town living, meaning you get the vibe of a city, at the same time ensuring that everything is a short walk or cycle from the town centre. Even better, Cheltenham is the cultural capital of the Cotswolds, making it a great place to base yourself when exploring further afield, out into the surrounding rolling hills and beautiful villages of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town has good road and rail connections from London airports and the South East as well as from Birmingham to the north and Bristol in the south-west.
From Cheltenham you can get public transport connections to the market towns and villages of the Cotswolds or to Stratford, Bath and Oxford among others.
To help you get around, we have a selection of maps and top tips to help your travel to and around town be as hassle-free and enjoyable as possible.
Please note, during some of our high-profile events including Cheltenham Race Days and Cheltenham Festivals, travel changes will be in place, increasing the frequency of public transport, changing the timetables, and changing in-town parking limits. We therefore advise that if you are coming to Cheltenham for one of these events, you take special care to review the travel information provided for the events when they are running.
