Restaurant Journey in Cheltenham has caught the attention of the famously anonymous Michelin inspectors and been named as one of the 18 ‘Michelin Inspectors’ Favourite New Restaurants’ for May 2023.
The fun fine dining restaurant, which only opened 7 months ago on Bath Road, takes diners on a culinary adventure to explore global flavours in a fun and immersive experience.
The approach is to serve creative, complex food made using some modern techniques; the result is original dishes that deliver plenty of punchy flavours. The atmosphere is intimate yet relaxed, and the dining room boasts a striking floor-to-ceiling, graffiti-inspired mural and a brass-topped bar.
The 6 and 12 course tasting menu is exquisite yet playful and inspired by the owners extensive travels.
Chef Patron Jeff Lewis honed his skills with stints at Michelin-started restaurants including The Fat Duck at Bray, La Gavroche in London and Ynyshir in Wales.
The new Michelin guide entry states - “A relatively new addition to the Cheltenham dining scene and the team here aim to “put the fun into fine dining”. They make good on their promise with the help of colourful decor; a lively modern soundtrack and a refreshing lack of stuffiness. The cooking itself demonstrates the talent and experience of chef-owner Jeff Lewis, with well worked combinations and plenty of modern techniques. A 12 course tasting menu is the main attraction; with a 6 course version available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.”
