The Promenade

The Promenade is a beautiful tree-lined shopping street that leads from High Street to the independent area of Montpellier. It is the height of cool cafe culture and is home to the grand Regency Municipal Buildings where Cheltenham Borough Council has its offices. You will also spot Neptune's Fountain - a grand sculpture in its own right - as well as The Hare and The Minotaur sculpture which divides opinion. 

Running parallel to the Promenade is Regent Street, which has numerous, bars, restaurants and nightclubs and the wonderful Everyman Theatre.

Shopping

The Prom, as it is known by the locals, is home to House of Fraser at Cavendish House, along with branded shops such as Jo Malone and Radley. It is regarded as one of the finest shopping boulevards in the country and importantly is home to independent retailers too, such as Castle Fine Arts and Huffkins Bakery - home of an exceptional lardy cake! The Promenade also plays host to our regular Farmers' Market and Fine Food and Arts and Crafts Market held on traditional green and white striped stalls. 

Food and Drink

Thanks to its large pedestrianised area, the Prom is home to a few bars and restaurants which offer outdoor seating under the trees for you to soak up the atmosphere. There are also a number of bars and restaurants within the Regency building basements, and plenty of choice for quick lunches or leisurely dinners.  

Imperial Gardens

Imperial Gardens was the former private garden associated with the Sherbourne Spa, now the site of the Queens Hotel. The buildings surrounding the park are all Grade 1 listed.
