About
Cheltenham Guided Walks is offering customers the chance to book walks around the centre of the town guided by a resident of 45+ year’s residence, Alan Jones, who holds a professional qualification in training delivery and has worked for UCAS for 20 years as a presenter.
The website provides customers with options in terms of walk duration and cost (from 60 minutes at £10 per head, 90 minutes at £15 per head or 120 minutes, at £20 per head incorporating a refreshment break if required). Booking online, customers can also indicate sites they might specifically wish to incorporate and themes they might be interested in exploring - for example Cheltenham’s history as a spa town, or as a centre of education; it’s growth as a festival town, its links to entertainment, literature, industry, or something of its dual nature (artisans and workers have always been required to support its growth and economy). Alan is even happy to explore some of its darker aspects, such as murders and hauntings.
Alan will try to tailor walks to give customers what they most want, highlighting interesting sites and features on route, and most of all trying to ensure that customers have a fun experience. Walk times agreed on booking.
Alan has plans to expand his service to offer through Cheltenhamguidedtalks.com to offer an alternative to walking in quieter periods such as midwinter, when he could be booked to deliver presentations on similar themes and lines - perhaps, for instance, to employers who want new or non-local staff members to have a better understanding of the town and its history, development and attractions.
