No Child Left Behind’s Party in the Park event will take place on Friday 2 August 2024; which will be in place of National Play Day and feature a diverse range of children’s activities and entertainment.
Cheltenham families are invited to enjoy a fun day out in the park this summer, with lots of free activities and entertainment on offer. Families with children who may find the main event overwhelming can come to a quiet hour from 10am to 11am. Book the quiet hour here.
The event will be open for all between 11am and 5pm and will feature a variety of entertainment and fun activities for children and young people such as karate, a climbing wall, soft archery, animals, inflatables and much more, tying in with the Paris Olympics 2024 plus live performances in music, dance and theatre. Activities will be open until 4pm, however performances on the stage will continue until 5pm.
The event will be split into four zones:
The Main Stage area, at Pittville Pump Room, hosted by No Child Left Behind with live music, activities for smaller children and the family-friendly advice village.
Extreme sports arena, at the tennis courts (and skatepark) will offer Olympic sports and activities for people to try as well as skateboarding, tennis and fencing.
The Olympic Stadium, at the Prince of Wales Stadium, hosted by Move More will include mini-Olympics, a climbing wall, axe throwing and the Bloodhound Big Car.
The Olympic Village, at Agg Gardners’ recreation ground, hosted by Cheltenham Borough Council with inflatables, a big top for circus skills and Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue teams.
The main stage will be hosted by local entertainers Kishi and Maria in the morning with a programme of performances by children and young people, awards and local celebrities. At 3pm they will then take over the Olympic Stadium with a ‘Mini Olympics’ for everyone to compete in. The final three hours of the main stage will be hosted by Camilla Lewington with a final performance and the stage closing at 5pm.
Visit the No Child Left Behind website and social media channels where full details will be shared.
Over the summer a host of fun events and activities aimed at giving children and young people the space, time and freedom to play, will return to Cheltenham as part of NCLB's Summer of Play.
In the past, over 20 local organisations have come together to offer provision to children throughout the summer. Some of the highlights have included animal experience days at Cheltenham Animal Shelter, football camps with Cheltenham Town FC and a variety of trips to Sandford Parks Lido, Laser Tag and Go Ape.
The exciting range of experiences includes the popular holiday activities and food scheme (HAF) which is funded by the Department of Education for families eligible for benefits-related free school meals, and a grant funded activities programme for all children and young people (HAP), both commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council.
