Parents and children alike are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment in Cheltenham. From parks to playgrounds and pools, you're sure to find something suitable to while away the hours in this resplendent regency town. Here we share a handful of our favourite ways to entertain children in Cheltenham.
Pittville Park
There's nothing quite like free entertainment. In the heart of Cheltenham Pittville Park is the perfect destination for families. With free parking onsite at the historic Pittville Pump Rooms you can be out of the car and into the fresh air in minutes.
The park itself boasts a beautiful lake, state of the art children's adventure playground, a menagerie of animals and plenty of picnic spots. The flat paths are suitable for prams and wheelchairs and you can even enjoy a trip on the boating lake in season.
There are two dedicated cafés and with toilets and baby changing facilities and the proximity to town means that you can have the best of both worlds.
Festivals
The UK's favourite family friendly festival returns to Cheltenham Racecourse at the beginning of June each year. 2018 was the 14th year for the Festival, with dates to be revealed for the 2019 event. Wychwood entertains the youngest to the oldest family members all at once, with four stages showcasing over 100 acts as well as music and dance workshops, circus skills and comedy too!
With disabled access and family friendly facilities, this inclusive festival is a firm favourite. Find out more and where to get tickets...
Throughout the year Cheltenham also hosts its Jazz, Science, Music and Literature festivals which are full of free activities across town for the family to enjoy.
Sandford Parks Lido
Cheltenham's open air swimming pool the Sandford Parks Lido has been entertaining families since it opened in 1935. There are two heated pools here; the main pool which is kept at 26oC and the slightly warmer children's pool at 30oC. This means that you can enjoy the sunny Summer weather poolside without leaving Gloucestershire.
The main pool also has the attraction of a slide and, if you forget your picnic, the onsite cafe serves food and drinks daily. The Lido's all day rates, including family tickets, make it reasonably priced for a full day's entertainment. Pay and display parking is also available right outside.
The Brewery Quarter
Situated on the lower High Street of Cheltenham the brewery quarter offers a number of options for family entertainment.
Cineworld shows the latest films day and night and the Screening Rooms allow for a sophisticated cinema experience complete with leather sofas and a licensed bar.
Mr Mulligan's Lost World Golf and the Play Farm soft play can be found in the complex too alongside a variety of different restaurants sure to satisfy all ages and appetites.
Across the town Cheltenham boasts fantastic opportunities for entertaining children. Whatever you choose to do, you can be sure that you and your children won't be short of things to do and see.
