The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s annual Summer Heritage Diesel Gala is all set to go this weekend with the diesel fleet firing on all cylinders for an action packed three days between the 7th and 9th July. Final preparations are underway with the home locomotive line-up being bolstered with the arrival of the previously announced Sulzer Type 2 / British Rail Class 25 No. D7659 (7659/25309/25909). The recently restored ‘Rat’ arrived safely at the railway’s locomotive base at Toddington on Friday 30th June, and is appearing courtesy of Peak Rail and the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust.
A host of exhibitors and traders are all set to participate over the weekend with those confirmed including: Cheltenham Model Centre, Rail Riders Club, Vale of Berkeley Railway Society, Rail Image Collections, 10000 Ivatt Recreation Group, 76077 Toddington Standard Locomotive Limited, The 2874 Trust, Dinmore Manor Locomotive Limited (DMLL), The GWSR Trust, The Growler Group and The Worcester Locomotive Society.
Tickets for the summer diesel gala are available online here. With up to eight diesel locomotives and a diesel multiple unit (DMU) running, the event will offer an action-packed and intensive timetable of trains.
