NCLB’s Party in the Park for families returns for another summer of fun

Following the huge success of last year’s event, No Child Left Behind’s (NCLB) Party in the Park is back this summer packed with even more free fun.

Families are invited to join us at Cheltenham’s magnificent Pittville Park on Wednesday 6 August for a day full of activities, entertainment and more.

Throughout the day there will be exciting free activities run by local organisations, spectacular live performances from children and young people in music, dance and theatre, a variety of roaming entertainment and many more fun things for everyone to enjoy. The event is part of the NCLB Year of Youth Action and is a celebration of youth culture as created by young people in our town.

Families with children who have additional needs and may find the main event overwhelming can come to a quiet hour from 10am to 11am.

Cllr Victoria Atherstone, cabinet member for safety and communities, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing Cheltenham’s Party in the Park back for another year. This summer event offers a fantastic opportunity for families to come together, to have an action-packed day of fun, and enjoy a wide range of free activities for all age groups, from tiny tots to older teenagers.

“This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our amazing volunteers, who give their time to make sure families can enjoy a fantastic day out. If you’d like to help at this year’s Party in the Park event, we’d love to hear from you!”

There will be four zones across the park and Prince of Wales Stadium, with different activities in each area. Highlights will include circus skills in The Big Top, BMX and skating with Team Extreme, creative arts activities such as music, dance and drama, inflatables and a wide range of physical activities hosted by Move More including a climbing wall, multi-sports and children’s races.

Andy Herbert, head of development at Move More, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many activity providers coming together to create a brilliant day for local families. We’re hoping even more providers will get involved this year to make it bigger than ever.”

The event will also provide free healthy meals for around 800 eligible children from more vulnerable backgrounds, funded through the Holiday Activity and Food Scheme (HAF), as well as offering an advice village to families, where a range of support and guidance will be available from local community organisations.

Lindsey Holland, projects executive at Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce, said: “It was great to see so many local businesses volunteer and support Party in the Park last year. This kind of community involvement is vital to keep the event going year after year and we’re hoping even more businesses will be involved with Party in the Park in 2025.”
