About
A showcase of the latest artworks by Gloucestershire based artist Richard Woods. The exhibition is an open invite to the public to come, explore and decipher; paintings, woodcarvings and prints at The Gardens Gallery, Cheltenham. Richard draws subject from everyday life, such as his time working as a gardener to his love of art history.
The show will have a strong use of narrative combined with artistic quality and techniques learned from working for some of the country's most well-known artists, including Damien Hirst. A stand-out work not be missed is a chair from Ikea that has had a premature upcycle with cryptic folk-like carvings, the paints used on the chair cause it to change colour as you walk around the work. The storytelling aspect holds a fluid transition between nature, society and history. There will be 40 artworks on show all created in the last 4 years.
Graduating from The University of Gloucestershire in 2008, Richard Woods is an artist from Cheltenham who has exhibited across the UK. He has had particular success in Scotland exhibiting alongside Scottish Art greats including John Bellany, Steven Campbell, Peter Howson and John Byrne.
