Below are just a few talented headliners announced for this year's festival so far:
Nina Valkhoff, @ninapelirroja, is an illustrator and muralist from Rotterdam who has become known internationally for her lively and colourful renditions of the natural world.
Dale Grimshaw, @dale_grimshaw, is widely recognised as one of the most powerful and talented street artists on the scene. Over the last 5 years, he has painted many festivals nationally and internationally and several iconic walls in London.
Anna Charney, @annacharneyart, is a painter and muralist of abstract pattern works. She received her BFA in painting/drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has been living and working back in her hometown of Denver, Colorado since 2016. Charney has exhibited in galleries and painted murals across the United States and internationally in both Costa Rica and France.
Emily Ding, @emilyding, is a muralist who draws inspiration from flora, fauna, and human temperament. Her large-scale work is characterized by expressive animals and figures, brought to life through bold colour gradients and a fluid, painterly style.
Jolien De Waele, @kitsunejolene, is an artist based in Ghent, Belgium. A self-proclaimed autodidact muralist, with a background as an art historian masters dropout, she uses a variety of mixed media to create vibrant murals portraying people characterized by an emotional and dreamy feeling to them.
What is the Cheltenham Paint Festival?
The annual Cheltenham Paint Festival brings high-quality artwork from leading national and international street artists to Cheltenham every year.
Past street artists have included - Inkie, Dank (aka Dan Kitchener), Fabio Petani, Zabou, Samer, Rocket01, Faunagraphic and Pad 303 amongst countless others. Andy Dice, the founder and organiser of the annual festival, has created many lasting festival legacies in the town, including the Cheltenham sign on Gloucester Road by the train station, a tribute to local NHS workers during the pandemic.
One of the many great things about the Cheltenham Paint Festival is that it can be enjoyed year round. All of the large scale / full wall street art murales are permanent and therefore available to appreciate long after the artists have left town. We highly recommend you put your walking shoes on, (or jump on your bike!), to explore the 8k street art route around Regency Cheltenham. Visit the Cheltenham Paint Festival website for a downloadable map or use this Google Map of artworks.
