Cheltenham’s Street Chilli Fiesta returned to the heart of the town on Saturday for a third year, once again attracting hundreds of people to Cambray Place.
Visitors had the opportunity to try a selection of the country’s best chilli-based produce and buy a wide range of products from chilli cheese to live chilli plants.
The event also saw the return of the ‘Clash of the Titans’, an extreme eating competition which certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted and is strictly for adults only. The competition started with mild and flavourful chillies and the contestants worked their way up the chilli heat list.
Eight brave souls took part in the chilli eating competition and all did exceptionally well however the overall winner was the 2018 champion Shahina Waseem who triumphed again after a mighty battle with local man Barney.
This community event was organised jointly by Chilli Fest UK and Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID). Please see here for full gallery of photos showing the stalls and chilli competition.
Kevan Blackadder, BID Director, said: “This is one of our smaller but most popular events. It’s great to be able to experience and buy something different in Cheltenham and then be able to visit the shops, restaurants and other businesses whilst in the town.”
