The ‘ordinary made extraordinary’ is the goal at the new Chaplais Kitchen when it opens in Montpellier at the beginning of August.
The bistro café will be the sister site to the well-known bakery, café and delicatessen Maison Chaplais in Tivoli.
Chaplais Kitchen will offer something a bit different at the new site which is located in Rotunda Terrace, Montpellier Street.
Chaplais Kitchen will be less of a deli and more of a café bistro with fresh ‘grab-and-go’ food such as pizzas, salads and pastas. There will also be seating for 18 downstairs and 18 outside with the aim of attracting customers to enjoy their favourite family food in a lovely space, and minus the effort!
Now the launch is imminent and the owners can’t wait to welcome people through the doors.
Nanette Chaplais said, ‘It’s been a long wait as there have been various issues with the building work, but we’re excited to be opening Chaplais Kitchen in Montpellier. We believe it’s the most continental part of Cheltenham and we hope to add to the outdoor evening culture in the area.’
The menu will offer brunch, lunch and dinner options with last orders at 8.45pm. You’ll be able to watch your fresh pizzas and pastas being made and there will also be spare ribs and salad bowls.
For breakfast in winter, there will be slow cooked porridge to takeaway, in summer their own recipe Bircher style muesli along with many other seasonal options. There will be plenty of seating both downstairs and outside along with a ‘grab and go’ takeaway service.’
The grade-II listed building at 15 Rotunda Terrace is one of a number of historic buildings dating back to the 1840s and 50s. Tarragon restaurant previously traded from the property before it closed in 2016. It was previously home to Armagnac, which was owned by French rugby union star Olivier Azam.
Maison Chaplais was opened 15 years ago by founder artisan baker Maurice Chaplais who creates all of the recipes and now consults world-wide.
