New Year’s Day Races
Date: Wednesday 1 January
Location: Cheltenham Racecourse, Evesham Rd, Cheltenham GL50 4SH
Known as the Cheltenham Big Day Out. This is a guaranteed way to start 2020 in style! New Year's Day hosts seven quality races, including two Grade 2s with trainers, jockeys and racegoers all hoping to get their year off to a flying start.
Under 18’s go free and the racecourse hosts complimentary family entertainment plus live music in The Centaur (Club/Tatts enclosure.
Festival Trials Day
Date: 25 January
Location: Cheltenham Racecourse, Evesham Rd, Cheltenham GL50 4SH
If you can’t make it on New Year’s Day, then there’s a second chance at racing this month with the Festival Trials Day. Broadcast live on ITV Racing, it's the last Cheltenham raceday before The Festival and there is always an excitable atmosphere. Huge crowds gather to catch a glimpse of Festival contenders as they show the world what they're really made of.
The racing highlight of Festival Trials Day is the Trial Cotswold Steeple Chase, often considered a trial for the Gold Cup in March.
Cocklebarrow Races
Date: 26 January
Location: Near Northleach, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL54 3PP
Seven competitive steeplechases offer the chance to kick off the January blues. Enjoy the sport from a heated picnic tent with bar, which offers easy access to the paddock and bookmakers. Highlights are a tough farmer competition, terrier racing, massive shopping hall, free kids zone including bouncy castle and rodeo. All day fun is guaranteed at this Point-to-Point, with plenty of activity for all age groups.
Cheltenham Town FC Matches

There are possibly three home games at Jonny-Rocks Stadium this January (depending on if Northampton win their FA Cup tie on 4th January). Confirmed matches to date are - 4 January verses Oldham Athletic and 11 January against Walsall. Wrap up warm and go and support our local club!

Annual Rubber Duck Race

Head on down to Pittville Park this year to celebrate National Rubber Duck Day! Sponsor a duck in the rubber duck races or try your hand at hooking a duck for a chance to win a prize. Food and drink will be on sale. There’s something for the whole family to do and money raised goes to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Cinderella

Polish your pumpkins, dust off your gowns and grab your glass slippers to join a host of crazy characters at the Everyman Theatre. Tickets for the last few performances of this popular panto are limited so you’ll have to be quick to book.

Robinson Crusoe and the Pirates

This amateur dramatic performance of Robinson Crusoe is guaranteed to cheer up your January. There will be lots of audience participation, a hilarious Dame, colourful costumes and lots of laughs.
The Wind in the Willows
Dates: 24 – 25 January

Follow the adventures of handsome Ratty, innocent Mole, wise Badger and of course the incomparable Toad as they row, ride and run on and around the banks of The River in an escapade suitable for the whole family!

Planning ahead for 2020 in Cheltenham
Cheltenham’s beautiful landmark buildings will be dramatically lit up to the delight of visitors in February 2020 as the spectacular Light Up Cheltenham returns for a third year.
Starting on the 1 February and finishing on 23 February, over 30 buildings and landmarks will be bathed in light with the stunning backdrop of the most complete Regency town in the UK.
