Wychwood Festival 2022 promises to be the best festival yet this June, with more than 100 acts performing across four stages and over 60 workshops!
Starting out as a World & Blues Music Festival, Wychwood has grown to embrace the spectrum of music genres that appeal to the whole family. Still retaining a core of World, Fusion, Blues and Indie music, across several of its stages, Wychwood always bring “divine” discoveries of new bands alongside established performers, along with award winning family activities, workshops, arts, kids entertainment, dance and comedy. In recent years the headliners have been a delightful surprise from a fantastic heritage of mainstream artists and this year, the organisers have today announced the Levellers will be headlining the mainstage on Saturday night!
Levellers are still going strong after over 30 years in the game. They have long been, and still are, one of the best live bands around. In 2020 they released new studio album ‘Peace’ which entered the UK Official Album Charts at #8 - the band's highest charting entry since 1997's Mouth to Mouth reached #5 and improving on previous release We the Collective's #12 position in 2018.
For Saturday festival attendees will also experience, Ska legends The Selecter, who will be led by iconic frontwoman Pauline Black who was recently awarded an OBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours. They’ll be bringing hits such as “On My Radio” and “Too Much Pressure”. British soul legends The Real Thing will be hitting the stage, best known for their hits “You To Me Are Everything”, “Can’t Get By Without You” and “Can You Feel The Force”. The group recently celebrated 50 years together!
As if all these acts were not enough, they’ll also be joined by Skerryvore, Doctor & The Medics, Folk On, DJ Milf (from the legendary Gloucestershire band EMF) and Wychwood favourite Basil Brush, whose legendary foxy humour lives on for all generations will be joining the festival on Sunday.
All this in addition to what is Wychwood’s biggest line-up ever featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Deacon Blue, Peter Hook & The Light, Boney M, The Undertones, The South, Dreadzone, Tankus The Henge and more alongside its biggest workshop offering of over 60 workshops plus healing gardens, silent discos and of course, spectacular camping at Cheltenham Racecourse nestled under Cleeve Hill.
Early bird tickets are now sadly sold out. Day and weekend tickets are on sale here - wychwoodfestival.com
