Taking place all August, Sudeley’s 70s Sundays (included with general admission) is a colourful and nostalgic weekly celebration to help mark Chatelaine Lady Ashcombe’s milestone 50th anniversary year.
Iconic films, cars and games that took popular culture by storm in the 60s and 70s when she first arrived at the castle, will be brought to life. Characters from the likes of Dr Who, Star Wars and Scooby Doo will be found hanging out around the castle, as well as peace and love flower-power afternoons, and groove-inducing disco fever and giant retro games on the Mulberry Lawn, making it a fun day out for the whole family.
There will be a rotation of 70s Sunday Specials (4th, 11thand 25th August) each spotlighting an iconic theme from the era which is accompanied by a summer deal with family tickets now covering two adults and three children, rather than two!
Star Wars Day - Sunday 4th August:
A day for Star Wars fans and lovers of Jedi, Baby Yoda, the Skywalkers, the Stormtroopers and the tall, hairy Chewbacca! This special Sunday is to celebrate Star Wars as part of a nostalgic trip back in time with the colourful cast of Gloucestershire Troopers who will be patrolling the castle grounds alongside other favourite Star Wars characters. Fans are encouraged to transport themselves to a galaxy far, far away, dress up and pose for iconic photos amongst the chaos of the Jawas as they scour the castle for scrap metal!
Scooby Doo Tribute Day – Sunday 11th August
Visitors can step into the Mystery Machine and bring their very own Scooby Doo for a pawfect day out! For the first time, Sudeley is hosting Scooby Doo inspired dog events at Sudeley Castle’s Gardens* - visitors can get into the spirit of things with characters from the beloved cartoon with their very own Scrappy Doo in tow! There will be a great atmosphere, plenty of activities designed around what dogs love to do best, doggy fancy dress judged by Lady Ashcombe, free Canine massage therapy, dog blessings and free Scooby snacks. Dog lovers will enjoy this fun-filled day to celebrate everything they love about their canine companions!
*Please note dogs are welcome across the grounds and gardens, but not in the castle rooms
Dr. Who Day - Sunday 25th August
Whovians will embark on a journey through time and space with The Who Zone, where they will have to watch out for the Daleks patrolling the grounds and avoid being exterminated! Visitors can spend the day of rest amongst the stunning settings of Sudeley Castle and Gardens and expect flower power, disco divas and giant vintage games of Connect Four on the Mulberry lawn.
