Taxi
It’s not usually very difficult to find a taxi in central Cheltenham; you’ll see lots of taxi operators within the town, and you can often just hail one in the street or pop to one of the taxi ranks at Cheltenham Spa Railway Station, Montpellier or The Promenade.
There are two types of vehicle that can be licensed to carry fare paying passengers:
Hackney carriage vehicles: which can be flagged down by passengers, or are available from designated taxi ranks. In these vehicles, the meter fares are set and limits are placed on the number of the vehicles licensed by Cheltenham Borough Council.
Private hire vehicles: these must be booked in advance of a journey and the Council has no control over the fare as they work for a private hire operator. There are a choice of these operators including Andy Cars 01242 262611 and Starline Taxis Cheltenham 01242 250250.
The Visit Cheltenham Map shows the current Taxi ranks in town.
