What could be better than shopping in a town that provides a wide, pedestrian Promenade, bursting at the seams with independent boutique retailers and on-trend high street brands? Cheltenham has succeeded in becoming a shopping destination with a difference, bringing together the best of both worlds.

Divided into districts...

Being a town, there is little in Cheltenham that is more than a 20 minute walk. In the centre, you can meander through the shops, and pass between our many shopping districts, with little more than a minute's walk in between.

The High Street

The High Street combines a great selection of independent retailers and high-street retailers, including a popular John Lewis. There are of course a myriad of small side streets connecting to the High Street, each with their own array of fantastic independent boutique stores, as well as The Regent Arcade which provides a large selection shops and restaurants all under one roof. 

The Promenade

Turning off the High Street, The Promenade was historically developed as a wide boulevard down which visitors could stroll to see and be seen. Now, it is a veritable delight of independent retailers, al fresco dining for that cafe culture appeal. Home to a regular Farmers Market and Craft Market which offer shoppers the chance to browse for locally sourced and handmade products. 

Montpellier

Starting almost as The Promenade ends, Montpellier has a distinctive Regency feel and it is here you will find both the Caryatids that lend the place a continental air, and the Montpellier Arcade - a tiny covered shopping arcade believed to be one of the oldest in the country. Wine bars, clothes shops, art and homeware crowd the street, and you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in the South of France - it's so delightful!

Tivoli

More of a 'locals' shopping spot, Tivoli is home to traditional shops including butchers, a hardware store and the like. That said, the coffee shops are seriously worth a visit, and for an exceptional sommelier experience, we can seriously recommend Tivoli Wines.

The Suffolks

Down side streets and avenues, you'll find a gorgeous selection of hidden gems, including antiques, clothing and homewares. The Suffolks is as much about the location as the shops and it's one of our favourite places to dig up a bargain and get stuck in to shopping. The Suffolks also host several popular Sunday markets throughout the year, where the roads are closed and a bustling market stall boulevard pops up.

Bath Road

Last but not least, Bath Road is the place to come for independent cafes, bars and pubs, mixed in with a brilliant assortment of stores. It's loved by locals and visitors alike.
